Cliff Island and other adventures

A welcoming sign to visitors.Image via Wikipedia

Okay...what had the kids very excited at the beginning has slowly faded to the background. I am speaking of course about the blog...We had a lovely time on Cliff Island. The house we rented this year was especially great because we could bring Bailey. Samantha spent the first part of the time, fishing. She made some fishing buddies who got her rigged up just right. Unfortunately...not right enough for the mackeral to bite...but that did not prevent her from casting at least 1,000 times.

The girls road bikes everywhere and met most visitors to the island. They both became expert wake jumpers..(jumping off the dock into the wake of the ferry to get washed towards a float) This may not seem like a big deal however the water is about 58 degrees and at low tide the span from water to dock is about 20 or more feet.

Mostly, they made new friends, spent some time with old friends and played without interruption or a care in the world for 4 days. No technology, tv, phone service. The only schedule was the low hum of the lobster boats in the morning to wake us up and the ferry schedule to call us down to the dock to see who was coming in. Brilliant.

Sammie's turn

Uhm...I like cheese. hmuhmhum. I have a cat named Jerry. He likes to sleep in a basket. Broccoli tastes bad so don't eat it. I went to camp last week. It was fun. Back to the cat...so I have a cat named Jerry..yadayadayada, sorry about that. We have a toy for him except you have to be careful so he doesn't pounce on your feet...so be careful everybody.

So cheese is really good. One night when I was eating cheese, it turned into a cheese cat. So I ate it. And then there was a cheese monster and the only way to destroy it was to eat it. So I ate it. Then the whole world turned into cheese except for me and my friend Devan. So then we ate the whole world and we lived happily ever after in space...the end.

Hey a cheese cat. I love my cat Jerry. He is soft and cuddly and loves my dog Bailey and she loves him back. I put some perfume on Jerry yesterday and now he stinks up the whole house....and it makes me stuffed up and I cant smell anything except perfume. So, do you like cheese? Because I do. I also like grape juice and oreo cookies and my grandma's macaroni. And her oatmeal cookies.

Mom is making me talk about my week at camp even though I don't want to. I like camp. again because it was fun. There were these sun fishies and they made nests on the bottum of the small end of the pond so we could see them. And when you walked in they would nibble on your toes. We also had a campout. That was fun. Okay lets talk about cheese. If you like cheese, please write back.

Bye Bye
Sammie

But wait there'smore

a few extra from great hiking in Acadia!

Mom's version

It has been a great start to summer. A little hectic and all with all the celebrity deaths and political stagings and all! We really have enjoyed the start to it all! I am posting this merely to share some photos of our first few weeks!

The first week of summer

Sorry that we haven't blogged for a while but we have been way too busy with fun summer stuff. First we went to our camp up in Bass Harbor, which of coarse we couldn't blog there because first of all there is no internet up there. But really it was just because we were busy having fun there. When we got there there was this huge moth bigger than Samantha's hand so I got out there and had to take a picture of it. Still when we were up there we also went in our jacuzzi, which of coarse my dad took a few pictures of Sam and I enjoying our selves. The day before we decided to go home my dad took Sam and I to a water park just off Mt. Desert island we had a blast there. Then the other photo was some time when I wasn't around but my mom and my sister cracked up so much they just took a picture. I will be blogging about the Clam Festival as my sister will be enjoying herself up at her sleep away camp called Pilgrim Lodge. Hope to blog soon.

Sincerely, Madeline

Back from vacation

It is hard to believe that we were out of range of wifi or technology for more than 7 days. When we arrived at my cousins house for the family reunion, it was rainy and buggy and his assault weapons were a little disconcerting. But what do you expect from the State Police's SWAT team trainer? Anyways...it was an interesting reunion. We enjoyed playing volleyball with Ciera and Bailey enjoyed meeting Casey. We enjoyed the few hours we spent with teh clan. I wish we liked lobster. They had trays of it basking in butter. Very well done! The next post will have pictures of vacation..cloudy and foggy as it was!

mom, sammie, and Bailey's ADEVNTURES

Today was the funnest day for Bailey and us I should add. We went to the old shipyard and threw the ball into the water for Bailey. Boy did we get messy. There was a slippery mudslide on the boat launch. It was just like surfing except way more harder. We saw three cormorans on buoys drying their wings. We saw an osprey fishing. We wrote a song, but I dont like it so I wont type it. We saw lots of tiny butterflies and a ground hog at the Wallace's house. We were so surprised to see the sun today because we haven't seen it in a long time. We take Bailey for walks either to the shipyard or the boat yard. She likes to walk on the docks. I wish we had a boat. Bailey would like to go on a boat. I wish dad would stop mowing the lawn and cook us hamburgers now.

Band Camp is Awsome

Today was the fourth day of my band camp. It has been awhile since we have blogged a new entry. That is why I decided to blog something for the first time. Anyway I am having a spectacular time and actually have made friends other than other camps I've been too. I am having a good time for many reasons actually because we don't just do regular band we do jazz band and even chorus. That is really not all that I enjoy it's basically everything. The music selections, new friends, the activities, and many more. Today we got to do water games after all the work we did today and had a water balloon fight and I happened to be one of the people who had no swim suit or a change of cloths. I happened to be the one who got chucked with water balloons the most. It was not pretty. But it was great. On top of that I carpooled home with three boys. I still enjoy band camp but there are some ups and downs about it. Any who tomorrow is the concert so I am very nervous but still excited and hope for the outcome to be great.

Happy Father's Day

Today is a rainy father's day.  Dad is not going to get to do his list of things that will make the day special.  He wanted to go for a hike with the family.  We had planned to go camping but the monsoon predicted for the weekend prevented us from doing that.  So instead we started today off with Eggs Benedict and potatos O'Brien.  Samantha made a tile for him and a wonderful card.  Madeline is in a good mood.  That is present enough.  We have decided to stay in and make a huge fort all through the house.  This blog entry will be out tribute Dad...who rocks our world!

Hello Summer Vacation

Yahooaaa, is Samantha's first word for the beginning of summer vacation.  And now she is headed out to play tennis against the garage before we take a bike ride.

Maddie has a more quiet perspective of summer vacation.  She is still excited though, but realized that she is a person who needs more structure in her life.  She wants to know what is going on and make a plan.

Mom and Dad just want to start the day with coffee and not think about anything until the brain cells are sharp again and we have gotten through the three pages of newspaper left.

It is too bad that we couldn't go camping this weekend as it has been raining very hard.  Instead we decided to start a family blog.  Lucky for you!  SO we'll start by posting some of the pictures from this past year and hope to take a bunch of new ones so you can see whats going on for us.
